Junior Mints Product Redesign
by Dustin Olsen
This is my Junior Mints product redesign that I did for my Advanced Visual Media class at BYU-Idaho. This project certainly pushed some of my limits in print design. Learning how to design for a package that is to be folded and printed is a challenge and you have to pay attention to several aspects of what you are doing.
In the end, I believe I spent close to 25 hours on this project so that it was near perfection… at least to my standards.
My dad always likes to ask me at the end of big projects, “Now that it is done, what would you have done different?” In answer that question, I might play the with the colors more and some gradients. Logos could always use work and refinement, so if I had more time, I would probably perfect that too.
In the creating process, it’s hard enough to get an idea. Some things will inspire an idea and you’ll just catch fire and go with it. Some things are good in the beginning, but as you look at more and as you spend more time thinking about it, good ideas become better ideas. I’m not sure I’ve ever had the best idea when it comes to designing, but this is certainly a start.
